The Tricks to Getting Discounted and Cheap Car Insurance

Car insurance isn’t the cheapest expense around, and for this reason it’s not often at the top of everyone’s priority list, despite its importance. Cheap car insurance can be a real encouragement to do some research, but it’s not always the easiest thing to find. One great way of finding cheap car insurance is doing your best to sniff out discounts on existing plans. You can get discounts for a whole variety of reasons, but some of the most common discounts you can get access to are listed just below – read on to get informed!

Multiple Cars = Cheaper Insurance

As is expected with many other purchases (2 for 1 deals anyone?), taking out insurance on multiple cars with the same insurance provider can allow you a massive saving in your policy cover. The more cars you cover, the more of a discount you’re likely to get.

No Claims? No Worries

Insurance companies love drivers who haven’t made claims in a long time or, if everyone is lucky enough, ever. This is because the longer you go without making a claim, the more likely you are to not make a claim. This allows you greater room for bargaining for discounts, potentially saving you hundreds. Don’t let this get you too confident though – just because you’re not likely to make a claim, it does not mean you’re unlikely to have an accident.

Home and Car Insurance

Often, car insurance providers will allow you a discount just for being the owner of a house, apartment, townhouse or other shelter. Even greater likelihood of a discount is if you combine your home and contents and car insurance into one umbrella (if this is possible with your coverage provider). The more covers you combine with the same provider, the larger discount you may be entitled to.

Graduation Initiation

Some car insurance providers actually offer discounts if you have graduated from high school, a higher learning course, or even a trade course. If you’re not yet finished your studies, never fear – continue your studious ways and you might be able to wrangle a student discount for your troubles, without even having to wait to graduate.

The Early Bird Catches the Worm

Everyone knows that if you want cheap flights, a great way to go about doing this is to get in early – as early as you possibly can. In a similar way, insurance providers may offer cheap car insurance discounts if you receive a car insurance quote prior to your current cover running out. Many providers will actually let you ‘save’ the quote until you’re ready to buy it and still retain the discounts offered.

Getting It out of the Way

One of the final tricks to wrangling discounts is to get the payment out of the way as soon as possible. Whilst most insurance companies offer a progressive payment plan, you are able to make quite large savings by buying in larger blacks. Similarly to how many gyms offer greatly reduced rates when you purchase a yearly pass, insurance providers often offer discounted costs when full payments are made up front.

As you can see, getting car insurance isn’t all bad news and with a bit of knowhow, you can quote easily find cheap car insurance for your needs. Don’t let the expensive costs fool you into thinking you don’t need the insurance – there are plenty of ways get a discounted rate!
