Nanny State: Removal of Basketball Hoops
The last leg of the college basketball March Madness tournament begins today with the Final Four. However, it appears that the state of Delaware is not a fan of basketball according to this video involving the DOT and the McCafferty family. Apparently, someone in the neighborhood complained about basketball hoops in one neighborhood, so the DOT cited an obscure law and removed them all. The McCafferty family attempted to fight the removal of a hoop that has been in his driveway for over 60 years. He parked his van in front of the hoop and his wife even climbed on top of it. They videotaped their encounter with a law enforcement officer, which revealing about so many things that are wrong with the direction of America and this overbearing Nanny State.

This is ridiculously lame.
ReplyDeleteLooks like the hoops on driveways were ok and the ones where kids played in the streets were the problem. Lame but I could see the point in this litigious society. More disturbing is that this video begs the question "why would anyone want to be a cop"
